THE POOL, SPA & STEAM ROOM
THE HEATED POOL
The sea temperature in the UK in the winter is usually around
6c (43f)
and upwards to the summer at
20c (68F)
From the outset we were mindful that such a beautiful location deserved to attract a year-round clientele and so we set about removing the manky old (half above-ground) outside pool and rebuilding with a brand new solar heated saltwater infinity pool which can, best of all …………. be enjoyed throughout the year.
In the WINTER. The perspex enclosure is rolled out and the pool is accessed from INSIDE the house. With the insulated floating cover out of the way, and with the weather (occasionally) raging outside, you will feel smugly content, with the ocean, visible through the end window, only a stone’s throw away. Pool temperature in the winter will usually be around
25c(77f) - 29c (85f)
In the SUMMER. The perspex weatherproof enclosure rolls back under the upper patio and the floating cover is gathered onto a roller at the other end to give us a secluded infinity pool in a wonderful suntrap. Access is from the outside, down tiled steps at one end. Temperature in the summer will usually be about
30C (86f) +
Bear in mind the PV (photovoltaic) panels generate electricity which drives the ASHP (air source heat pump) which ONLY heats the pool. Obviously it is up to you to keep the insulating floating cover on when not in use as the heat can escape (especially overnight) if left off. If the pool temperature is not quite to your liking there is always the
HOT TUB - 40C (104f)
With its seaview to keep you company and totally screened off from the public. This will feel like a very hot bath. If the weather is just too antisocial, there is always the steam room.
STEAM ROOM - 60 C (140 f)
Steam room at The Sandcastle
Steam rooms (despite their lack of SD, are the enemy of Covid!). Switch it on, go and have a cuppa and after 45 minutes it will be ready to sizzle your sox off.
Try this for 15 minutes then a nice plunge in the heated pool and you feel totally reinvigorated.
